Benefit Overview#
The Education Budget is a financial and time investment in your continued development and growth. The purpose of this budget is to provide additional resources for you to develop your work related skills.
The following are examples of what is covered by this budget:
- An online course, used as a contribution towards larger professional goals such as certifications or diplomas
- Attending DrupalCon or other work-related events, when you aren’t already attending at the request of management
This is an annual benefit, renewable each calendar year, and is available to new employees immediately. Any unused benefit will not roll over into subsequent years. This budget is pro-rated on exit and any excess usage may be reimbursed back to the company. This budget is also pro-rated for employees working at a lower workload.
You should work with your lead, and discuss professional development activities during each employee review and your 1:1’s. Use of this budget requires prior sign off from your lead. It is for each employee to settle the expense themself, and claim back the cost as “education expenses” via the expense process. See here: Salaries and expenses
You are also granted up to 5 days paid leave to attend courses, events, exams etc. relating to any agreed use of the Education budget, in addition to your PTO. This leave must be signed off by your lead and can be requested via BambooHR under “Education and Conferences”.
Criteria for usage#
- The budget must be used in a way that clearly benefits to you developing your skillsets for your role, or growth within amazee.io.
- Your lead must agree and sign off on what you are using the budget for.
- In cases on ongoing usage of the education budget, such as monthly subscriptions of educational tools, there should be a study plan in place with your lead, with agreed goals and timelines.
- e.g. If you’d like to use the benefit for a yearly Udemy subscription, there should be an agreed plan with your lead regarding what courses you will complete, in what time frame, and for what benefit. With this being tracked through your 1:1s, in Lattice.
