OKRs and Goal-Setting#
At amazee.io, OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) are a powerful framework for setting and aligning goals across the company. They help ensure that our efforts are focused on what matters most, both for the company and for individual growth. Here’s how we use OKRs and how you can effectively set your own goals.
What Are OKRs?#
- Objectives: High-level, qualitative goals that describe what you want to achieve.
Example: "Improve the team’s collaboration processes." - Key Results: Specific, measurable outcomes that show progress toward the objective.
Example: "Host 4 team workshops this quarter to optimize communication and workflows."
OKRs are designed to provide clarity, foster alignment, and help everyone focus on impactful work.
How OKRs Work at amazee.io#
-
Company-Wide OKRs: Every quarter, leadership sets objectives that reflect our strategic priorities. These are shared with the entire team to ensure alignment and transparency.
-
Team OKRs: Workstreams align their objectives with the company-wide OKRs while focusing on their specific contributions. This creates a clear connection between team efforts and the broader company goals.
-
Individual OKRs: Each employee is encouraged to set personal OKRs in collaboration with their lead. These goals can support team objectives, focus on professional growth, or balance both.
Setting Your Own OKRs#
Step 1: Define Your Objectives#
- Think about the impact you want to make.
- Align your objectives with your team’s priorities and amazee.io’s overall goals.
- Keep objectives clear, actionable, and inspiring.
Examples
- "Enhance my technical skills in Kubernetes deployment."
- "Increase client satisfaction for my accounts."
Step 2: Create Measurable Key Results#
- Focus on outcomes, not activities. Key Results should be specific, time-bound, and quantifiable.
- Use metrics to track progress.
Examples: For the objective "Increase client satisfaction for my accounts":
- Achieve a 90% positive feedback score in Q2.
- Deliver three proactive client check-ins by the end of the quarter.
Step 3: Review and Collaborate#
- Share your draft OKRs with your lead during a 1:1 meeting.
- Collaborate to refine your goals and ensure they are realistic and impactful.
- Make adjustments as needed to align with team and company objectives.
Best Practices for OKRs#
- Keep It Simple: Focus on a few meaningful objectives per quarter (1-3 max).
- Be Ambitious, but Realistic: OKRs should stretch your capabilities without being impossible.
- Review Progress Regularly: Check in on your OKRs during your weekly or bi-weekly 1:1s.
- Celebrate Achievements: Recognize progress and share wins, no matter how small!
Tools for OKRs#
- Google Sheets/Docs: Teams and individuals often track OKRs in shared documents for transparency.
- Jira/Confluence: Some workstreams use these tools to integrate OKRs with ongoing projects.
- 1:1 Meetings: Use your regular check-ins with your lead to discuss OKR progress and any blockers.

OKRs at amazee.io aren’t just about tracking work—they’re about driving focus, encouraging collaboration, and fostering personal growth. By setting clear and measurable goals, we ensure that everyone is working toward shared success while growing individually.
