Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion#
At amazee.io, we are deeply committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. Our recruitment process is designed to reflect these values, ensuring that every candidate feels respected, valued, and empowered throughout their journey with us. We believe that a diverse team strengthens our company, enriches our culture, and drives innovation.
Here are some ways we try to make inclusivity an ingrained part of our hiring process and an early introduction to our wider culture for applicants.
Our Commitment#
Transparency#
We don’t do “nice to haves” in our job adverts - what you see on the job advert are all the core requirements for our roles. We don’t want you put off from applying if you see a “bonus skill” you don’t cover.
We don’t ask for Higher Education qualifications. Can Higher Education be an amazing thing? Yes. However it’s not an opportunity we all get, and so if you’ve developed your skills another way, we still want to hear from you.
We’ll provide you with all the information you need to feel 100% prepared for the interviews. You’ll get links to find out about us, a FAQ to prepare yourself for our interview questions and style, and background on what criteria will be assessed along with the invite we send you for the initial screening with us. By providing you upfront with the tools to prepare, we can level the playing field for all applicants, including those whose life circumstances may mean they don’t have the time to search for all the things they’d like to know about us and the role.
No matter the answer, if we take you forward or if we regrettably decline, you’ll receive timely feedback, and clear reasons for our decision.
We dedicate a section of each interview for applicants to interview us back and ask us questions about the role, team dynamics, etc. We believe in you joining us having no surprises from day 1, so this space is free to ask any questions you want.
During interviews, we prioritize getting to know you too — your approach to work-life synergy, how you manage your wellbeing long term working in a remote environment etc. Don’t be surprised by some of the questions. The benefits and challenges of working in an environment such as ours are things we like to discuss openly from the first step.
Accessibility#
An entirely digital experience - From interviews to the signing of contracts, all of this will be done digitally. This allows us to consider candidates globally, anywhere in the world, and candidates who may not have the ability to attend in person interviews, assessments, or to sign documents.
Deliveries to your door before you start - no matter where you live or your access to a vehicle, or your personal circumstances, we will make sure you have all the equipment you need delivered to a place of your choosing, before you start with us.
We prepare you for each interview stage both in writing prior to the interview, and with a verbal overview of what to expect going forward at the end of each previous interview. We all take in information differently, so by doing this we can really ensure you digest information and prepare well.
We strive to balance the ability for us to assess the right candidate for a role with a realistic expectation of their time. For this reason we limit the interview process to 4 stages, and ensure any technical assignments or presentations can be completed within 2.5 hours to allow for candidates with more intense non-work responsibilities, who simply can’t dedicate a day of their time to the assessment stage.
Equity#
We take a structured approach to our interviews, meaning that each candidate will be asked questions covering the same key criteria for the role. This ensures we assess each candidate fairly, free of the risk of unconscious biases.
We focus on value fit rather than “culture fit”. Value fit removes the inherent bias of culture fit, by instead of asking “will someone fit it”, it asks the much broader question of “will someone adhere to the core values that make us all work better together”. This allows us to go beyond the potentially discriminatory familiarity of people who think and act like us, and allows amazee.io to bring in those with new perspectives and experiences, who simply believe in our core values. Doing this allows us to, rather than simply maintain a “culture”, continually enhance it.
By applying to amazee.io, we like to think that you’re not just considering a role—you’re considering joining a team that lives by certain values, and is passionate about creating a work environment of equity, empowerment, and fairness for all.
